A call to “Think Pink, Show your support” to all guests and team members
Abu Dhabi, UAE: On the occasion of the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tilal Liwa Hotel and Al Gharbia Hospital yesterday organized its 2nd breast awareness campaign at the hotel’s Al Majilis Ballroom.
Ladies from the nearby community, mostly teachers and medical experts attended the event and listened to the lecture by Dra. Shadia Mohamed Hassan, Medical Practitioner, Family Medicine and Ms. Feryal Bakheit from Al Gharbia Hospital. The event is part of the property’s CSR activity. In addition to the lecture, women team members of the hotel wore a pink ribbon for the whole month of October.
Khaled Sharabassy, General Manager, Tilal Liwa Hotel said: “In collaboration with Al Gharbia Hospital, and following the success of our breast cancer awareness campaign last year, we are pleased to organise our second event to increase the reach of the campaign. We join the whole world in fighting breast cancer by helping women get information to help prevent, find and treat breast cancer.”
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women but millions are surviving the disease through early detection and improvements in treatment.
“Think pink, Show the support” is our theme, said Dra. Shadia. “The lecture was very comprehensive and rich of information which can be very useful to the attendees, who in turn will easily spread the message to as many people as possible. I am grateful that ways of communications are becoming easier in our era, and everybody can search for information on the disease through the media and internet. This yearly initiative shows our support to raise awareness and to get closer to the community.”
The lecture was followed by an entertainment dinner and a drawing contest with prizes where people enjoyed the evening situated on the beautiful edge of Rub Al Khali Desert.
