Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Enables Wateen Graduates To Celebrate Next Step In Their Healthcare Careers

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: A new career in healthcare awaits fifty-four UAE nationals following their successful completion of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Wateen graduate program.

The university graduates spent the last year getting practical experience through a comprehensive training program that saw them meet strict competency requirements across a range of clinical and non-clinical roles within the hospital. The experience was made even more challenging by the unique circumstances of the pandemic that the trainees encountered through the course of the year.

“Healthcare has always been a vocation for people who want to directly address challenges and make a real difference in people’s lives. Never in our memories has that been more true than this year. Our graduates demonstrated exemplary commitment to our mission in both through the height of the pandemic and as we resumed our full range of services following our COVID-19 free designation,” says Nizar Luqman, Chief Human Capital Officer, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, an integral part of Mubadala Health.

The hospital’s Wateen graduate trainee program offers qualified UAE nationals the opportunity to take their first step towards a promising career in healthcare. During their time in the program, trainees receive support and guidance from highly experienced professionals to help them translate their academic training to the real world.

“Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Wateen graduate trainee program is centered around each individual trainee providing them with a structured environment and the tools they need to succeed.  This support in beginning their specialized career means that we are able to train effective future leaders that will shape the next generation of UAE national caregivers, building towards our national vision of a more sustainable healthcare system,” says Yousef Abdulla Aljneibi, Executive Director, Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness.“My experience over the last twelve months has been incredible, I have learned so much more than I ever imagined. I am keen to keep learning, be a team player to the social work management team, and transplant team, while contributing to the health of our community,” says graduate Fatima Al Zaabi, Assistant Clinical Social Worker.

Trainees receive feedback at regular intervals and upon graduation, become fully fledged professionals in their chosen field.  All 54 graduates will remain at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in permanent positions. By providing these educational opportunities, the hospital hopes to inspire and prepare the next generation of UAE national healthcare leaders.

“I am grateful to have had this opportunity and for everything we all accomplished this year. The key skills and knowledge that I have learnt and implemented while shadowing my team through actual projects have significantly contributed to helping me grow. I am proud to be part of the team and look forward to continuing making Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi a pioneer in the healthcare sector” says graduate Khaled Al Kaayyoomi, Specialist, Continuous Improvement.
