Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Calling all burger lovers: there’s a new fast-food concept in town and it’s a seriously cool one. Funky Bun is an independent brand that’s set to shake up the region’s burger scene, one perfectly juicy, fully loaded patty and sensational side dish at a time.
Founded in Lebanon by passionate cook, creative and foodie Batoul Maria and born out of her desire to shower friends and family with love though her cooking, Funky Bun is a small company with big ambitions. The brand is all about fresh, high-quality ingredients and funky dishes that are made with love, prepared with flair, deliver big on taste and look incredible on the ‘gram (and are brilliantly affordable, too – all items on the menu are under AED 50).
From burgers to baos, hot dogs, flavour-packed sandwiches and tasty sides, as well as loaded fries and incredible sauces, these on-trend eats are intended to not just set mouths watering but get people talking and are destined to become social media sensations.
Highlights from a small but mighty menu include the Funky Chicken Burger (crispy, tender fried chicken topped with melted cheese, crunchy slaw, caramelised onions, pickles and a generous handful of crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos) and a Funky Smashburger that delivers not just a taste sensation but a lesson in how to make a classic burger the right way (two tender, well-seasoned chuck patties, shredded lettuce, onions and lashings of Funky Sauce are all piled into a perfectly golden potato bun).
Inventive appetizers include scroll-stopping, hunger-inducing delights such as sweet-with-a-kick-of-heat Flamin’ Glazed Chicken Puffs, Funky Mozzarella Sticks that provide the perfect cheese pull and Flamin’ Corn dripping with butter and special sauce. Other items that should be on everyone’s must-order list are the signature Funky Fries, a Mac N’ Cheetos that offers a whole new riff on the traditional dish and a dripping-with-two-types of fried cheese Funky Cheesy Sandwich that’s finished with special sauce and crushed Cheetos.
