iCademy Middle East, the only KHDA approved online school announced that it had witnessed a 200 percent surge in its enrollment. According to the school, the increase comes as a response to the substantial rise in COVID-19 cases that have caused students and parents to opt for online schooling. The school has particularly witnessed an increase from students in the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar. In the UAE, they have seen a substantial increase from the emirate of Abu Dhabi, citing that 30 percent of new enrolments are from the capital.
“The government’s decision to continue distance learning for pupils is a precautionary measure to limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of its residents. This has led to a substantial increase in our enrolments, which is a clear evidence that the virtual school model is appealing to new families at a moment of upheaval and uncertainty. Parents are looking for stability and opting for an online school that has been supporting this type of learning for several years provides them with assurance at affordable price. Parents are wanting a program they know is consistent and has structure and going to provide for their child’s needs at this time,” said Cody Claver, General Manager of iCademy Middle East.
iCademy employs diversified staff members and hired several new members last summer to prepare for growth. Families sought iCademy for a variety of reasons. Students might be involved in an extracurricular program or high-level sports and have busy schedules. Most of the students who opted for iCademy were seeking a more flexible but rigorous schedule.
At iCademy, students are given assignments they must complete at the beginning of each week. Throughout the week, teachers host live lessons, and kids log on synchronously to engage. If they need additional help, teachers are on call to book appointments or put together small support groups.
iCademy ME has various start dates throughout January until April and students can transfer this spring to study their second term at the only KHDA licensed online school.
