A health and wellness district has been allocated in Phase I with an 81,615 sqm Net Development Rights (NDR)
Amman-Jordan: The Abdali, a vibrant mixed-use development in the heart of Jordan’s capital, has allocated more than 80,000 sqm NDR to healthcare projects, making a significant contribution to the wellness infrastructure of both the district and the nation. The conceptualised health and wellness district represents 21% of Phase I of The Abdali.
Healthcare provision has always been a central focus of The Abdali. It is already home to The Abdali Hospital, a world-class multi-specialty facility affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International that was founded by the same investment group behind the Clemenceau Medical Center in Beirut. This prime space in will now offer healthcare practitioners, providers and investors the opportunity to further elevate wellness provision the centre of Amman.
The mixed-use nature of The Abdali provides the ideal platform to support the needs of a health and wellness hub, with dedicated facilities, a centralised location and a service-oriented eco-system that includes multiple hospitality options to support medical tourism.
The allocation is in line with His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision for the kingdom. In a recent interview, he said, “We must also do everything possible to advance the medical sector and reclaim Jordan’s position as a prime medical tourism destination in the region.”
His Excellency Amer Al Fayez, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Abdali Investment Development (AID) said this new allocation supports Jordan’s national agenda. “One of the key objectives of The Abdali is to offer new levels of clinical expertise, care and professionalism, to make the most of life for all those it serves. It is our ambition to stand for excellence in healthcare in Jordan and the whole region.”
Jordan has a mixed base economic system with a highly skilled workforce, political stability, robust economic growth, untapped investment opportunities and markets. H.E. Al Fayez described the purpose of a mixed-use development to be “designed and constructed to serve the economy, the community, public health and the environment.”
Recent trends following the post-pandemic era have created a more health-conscious population giving attention to preventative care and bettering their quality of life and a growth in the business sector focusing on health care, biotech and preventative measures.
The Abdali health and wellness district has not restricted the use of land to specialised fields within the medical sector, however industry studies reflected a need for assisted living, prevention and health lifestyle, primary care, mental health, medical tourism, workforce and medical education, as well as medical technology.

The Abdali has 88.4% of Phase I complete and operational. This modern district welcomes over 15 million annual visits, has 1,200 hotel rooms, 10,000 employees, 720 residential units and approximately 450 businesses (international, regional and national).
