Tile of Spain brings Órbita to life, a suite designed by Viruta Lab for Hotel Hábitat, on view from 28 September to 1 October 2026
Spanish ceramics celebrate the legacy of Federico García Lorca in an evocative, sculptural setting
UAE, 29th September 2026: Tile of Spain showcases Spanish ceramics in one of the suites at Hotel Hábitat, one of the projects featured as part of “València Inspira Diseño”, taking place from 28 September to 1 October 2026. Hotel Hábitat is a 550 m2 experiential space that recreates a universal hotel, inviting visitors to explore new ways of living in and engaging with spaces through a more sensory and sustainable approach to interior design. The project has been curated by Mexican architect Joaquín Homs.
Entitled “Órbita. Ninety years revolving around Federico García Lorca”, the Tile of Spain installation has been designed by Valencian studio Viruta Lab and draws inspiration from “Ballad of the moon, moon”, one of the most recognisable poems in Lorca’s poetic universe. Marking the 90th anniversary of the Spanish poet’s death, the installation gives architectural form to one of the most recurring symbols in his work: the moon. The project approaches the moon not merely as a celestial body, but as a representation of time, fate, mystery and transformation.
Rather than depicting the moon literally, Viruta Lab sets out to construct the architecture of its orbit. The room is conceived as a small universe in which each element finds its place in relation to a single centre and every path through the space follows a continuous movement. The bed, desk, bench and wardrobe adopt curved geometries and are integrated into a system in which everything appears to be in orbit.
Spanish ceramics play a central role in shaping the suite, moving beyond surface coverings to become an integral part of its fittings and furniture. The Órbita suite features ceramic tiles by Grespania, Xtone (Porcelanosa Group), Dune Ceramics, Harmony (Peronda Group) and Cevica, showcasing the ability of Spanish ceramics to adapt to a wide range of surfaces, geometries and applications in interior design.
The project also features contributions from Euromoda (bed linen and cushions), Güell Lamadrid (upholstery fabrics), Khama Hotel (bed and decorative cushions), Sancal (chair) and Valpaint (paint).
With Órbita, Tile of Spain once again brings Spanish ceramics closer to architects, interior designers and other specifiers, revealing the potential of ceramics to foster emotional connections between spaces and the people who inhabit them.
A total of eight Tile of Spain companies will exhibit at “Valencia Inspira Diseño”, as part of Espacio Cocina SICI and 360 by Cevisama: Cevica, Cosentino, Coverlam, Dune Ceramics, Museum Surfaces, Neolith, Techlam (Levantina) and Xtone (Porcelanosa Group).
