Annual stollen charity cake sale at Mall of the Emirates raises AED 100,000 for Gaza relief efforts

Proceeds to be donated to the Emirates Red Crescent’s national relief campaign – Tarahum for Gaza.

Dubai, UAE: Following an overwhelming response from the community, Majid Al Futtaim’s 18th Annual Stollen Charity Cake Sale held at Mall of the Emirates was a huge success, raising an impressive total of AED 100,000.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Emirates Red Crescent’s national relief campaign – Tarahum for Gaza – providing essential supplies to the people of Gaza, Palestine, which is in the midst of a dire humanitarian crisis.

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s charity cake sale,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Managing Director of UAE Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties. “The generosity of the community will help to provide essential supplies and support for those in need in Gaza. We are proud to be a beacon in our community, bringing them together to help for the greater good of both the UAE and our region.”

Over the course of the event, the team used more than 4,700 eggs, 950 kilograms of flour, 550kg of raisins, 102kg of marzipan, 340kg of lemon zest, 340kg of zested orange, 550kg cranberries and 520kg sliced almonds to create the decadent stollen cakes. The traditional German fruit bread preparation of nuts, spices and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar, were sold at Dh100 for a whole loaf (60cm) and Dh50 for half, with every dirham going towards the relief efforts.

An annual tradition at the Mall of the Emirates in collaboration with Kempinski Hotel, the Stollen Charity Cake Sale demonstrates Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting humanitarian efforts across the region.

“We are delighted to announce that this year’s Stollen Cake sale raised AED 100,000, in collaboration with Mall of the Emirates and Emirates Red Crescent. We have been raising money for the humanitarian organisation for 18 years and are always thrilled to collaborate with such a worthy cause. Each year this wholesome tradition brings the community together, and we are so grateful to everyone involved”.

“The Stollen Cake sale has established itself as a custom in our annual festive calendar, and our aim is to generate funds for Emirates Red Crescent, to support the numerous causes backed by the service. Each year our goal is to create more momentum for the event, whilst increasing awareness of the organisation, supporting the local community and going over and beyond our fund-raising targets.” Said by Slim Zaiane, General Manager of the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
