Ducab Group Launches ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ Initiative to Plant 1,000 Trees in Partnership with Emirates Environmental Group

Ducab Group, one of the largest end-to-end energy solutions providers and manufacturing firms in the UAE, has strengthened its commitment to environmental conservation through its ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ initiative, launched in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

This initiative aligns with the “Plant the Emirates” National Programme, introduced by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the ‘Year of Sustainability’. The initiative aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices, expand green spaces across the UAE, and advance the nation’s agricultural sector. Through this collaboration, the initiative seeks to support agricultural development, safeguard the environment, and strengthen sustainable national food security.

The initiative, launched as part of the “Ducab Ducare”, underscores Ducab Group’s leadership in environmental preservation and its commitment to supporting the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative, both aimed at reducing carbon emissions by promoting biodiversity and preserving ecosystem stability.

Additionally, the initiative supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9).

The launch of the initiative was attended by Her Excellency Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sustainable Communities sector at MOCCAE; Eng. Othaibah Saeed Al Qaydi, Director of the Municipal Affairs Department at MOCCAE; Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab; and Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG.

HE Alia Al Harmoudi said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Ducab’s initiative to plant 1,000 trees as part of the ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme, which underlines the UAE’s commitment to advancing agriculture and embedding sustainable agricultural practices in the lifestyles of citizens. We thank Ducab and Emirates Environmental Group for launching this initiative, which is a significant contribution by the private sector in supporting the Ministry’s efforts to promote sustainability across the nation.”

Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab, said, “The initiative embodies the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to embed sustainable practices as a fundamental part of the daily life of the people.”

Almutawa added, “The Year of Sustainability is a transformative chapter for the UAE, and Ducab is proud to actively support the ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme. Our collaboration with EEG and the planting of 1,000 trees symbolise more than an environmental effort; they represent our commitment to shaping a greener, more resilient landscape for the UAE.”

Almutawa said that each tree planted by Ducab team members represents a step toward preserving the nation’s natural environment and combating desertification. This initiative underscores Ducab’s commitment to the UAE’s environmental objectives and its collective responsibility to create a sustainable green legacy for current and future generations.

As part of the initiative, Ducab will plant 1,000 native Ghaf, Samar, and Sidra trees across its facilities. These trees are projected to absorb approximately 22 tonnes of carbon annually. The team members will plant trees bearing their names, highlighting Ducab’s leadership in advancing sustainability and fostering a greener future.

Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), said that the launch of the “Ducab Plants for Progress” initiative, in partnership with Ducab Group, represents a significant step towards accelerating the achievement of sustainability goals in the UAE.

She stated, “Environmental preservation and the promotion of sustainability are collective responsibilities that demand cooperation and active participation from all sectors of society and institutions. Through the ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ initiative, which involves planting 1,000 trees, we are fostering sustainable practices across various segments of society, contributing to advancing a more sustainable future for generations to come.”

Ducab Group and the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for ongoing sustainability initiatives across Ducab’s operations, focused on supporting the UAE’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.

The “Ducab Plants for Progress” initiative highlights the Group’s pioneering role in advancing sustainability goals within the UAE and globally, aiming to create a positive impact and expedite the achievement of the sustainable development goals.

Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices, Ducab has taken a leadership position in renewable energy. At its Jebel Ali facility, Ducab’s solar power system generates 3.5 GWh annually, meeting approximately 50% of the site’s energy needs and offsetting approximately 660 metric tons of carbon annually— equivalent to the impact of planting 40,000 trees over a decade. The company also prioritises resource efficiency, recycling copper and aluminium from manufacturing processes to reduce waste.
