- Omar just wants to fit in and be accepted by his classmates.
- Perhaps what makes him different is the very same thing that makes him special.
- Can Omar save the day when a sandstorm hits his school?
Sandstorm’s main character, Omar, is taller and looks older than his peers which means he sometimes gets left out as he’s caused a few hilarious mishaps in the classroom and the playground involving a giant sneeze, the school’s pet turtle and a seesaw!
But when a sandstorm hits his school and teacher Ms. Rose gets into a bit of a fix, there’s only one person in the classroom who can come to the rescue!
Author Lindsay Rosenzweig said: “I developed a passion for writing children’s books during my 10 years of teaching in the United Arab Emirates. I was inspired to write Sandstorm after listening to countless stories from my students about this fascinating natural phenomenon here in the UAE.”
Medina Publishing owner Michelle McDonald said: “Sandstorm has a lovely positive message of self-esteem and is dotted with humour throughout which both children and adults will enjoy. The suggested age range is 6-9 for early readers, but the fun illustrations will appeal to much younger children at story time too.”
