Himchan – University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) Spine and Joint Center has revealed that it is celebrating its second year anniversary with a Presidential Citation from this year’s edition of the Global Healthcare Contributor Awards, an event held during the recently concluded Medical Korea Brand Proclamation Ceremony & Symposium. The Presidential Citation, which is considered to be the most prestigious category of the ceremony, was given in recognition of the continuous commitment of Himchan towards effective globalization work via social contribution, local training of its international medical staff in Korea and the provision of medical treatments for overseas patients.
According to the hospital’s senior officials, the center is grateful and also humbled to receive such an honorable distinction, which serves as a testament to the institution’s commitment towards offering a specialized medical system for joint-related diseases ranging from knees, lumbar, feet, shoulders, hip joint, to deformity correction. Since it was first established two years ago, the Himchan – UHS Spine and Joint Center has logged over 21,000 out-patients and has successfully performed more than 700 surgical procedures– a figure that is continuously increasing accompanied by a high satisfaction rate from patients. To date, the total number of physiotherapy patients that have visited the center has reached to 14,200 and has already tripled since last year.
Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Trustees, UHS, said, “Our collaboration with Himchan has been quite successful, as UHS has witnessed a daily increase in the number of outpatient and inpatient cases coming from the UAE and also from other countries, seeking to benefit from Himchan’s subspecialty in less invasive high tech surgeries that we are offering.”
Himchan – UHS Spine and Joint Center is currently led by four Korean consultant surgeons with more than a decade of experience in their respective specialties. These medical experts are assisted by a highly trained staff of operating theater nurses who have had extensive training in orthopedic and spine surgeries. These nurses attend every surgery done by the center to ensure that the surgery is done with maximum safety and professionalism. In addition, the center is also staffed with five Korean physiotherapists who prepare for patients a personalized treatment plans and systematic therapy via specialized one-on-one sessions. These physiotherapists have been trained and are highly knowledgeable on the latest medical technologies and use of state-of-the-art therapy equipment.
The Himchan – UHS Spine and Joint Center is a collaboration between Himchan Hospital, Korea’s leading joint and spine hospital, and University Hospital Sharjah. The overwhelming success received by the facility since it opened in 2018 has led to an expansion of the center one year after. His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah graced the official opening and inauguration of the center two years ago.
