Geneva – May 11, 2026

The city of Geneva recently hosted a series of meetings and dialogues as part of the Young Global Leaders 2026 program organized by the World Economic Forum, bringing together an elite group of founders, policymakers, scientists, investors, and changemakers from around the world. Discussions focused on advancing a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future capable of addressing global challenges.

Among the participants was Khaled Sharbatly, Chief Executive Officer of Desert Technologies, Chairman of the National Entrepreneurship Committee at the Federation of Saudi Chambers, and Board Member of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Sharbatly participated as a member of the 2026 cohort of the Young Global Leaders program for leaders under the age of forty.

Sharbatly’s selection to this year’s cohort reflects the growing international presence of Saudi talent and its expanding role in advancing global dialogue on development, innovation, and sustainability, while also strengthening cross-sector and cross-border partnerships.

Commenting on the occasion, Sharbatly expressed his pride in joining the Young Global Leaders community, describing the experience as a unique opportunity to engage with influential leaders from diverse sectors and cultures and exchange perspectives on the future of the global economy and development.

He stated: “Spending time in Geneva alongside an exceptional group of founders, policymakers, scientists, investors, and changemakers from around the world was an inspiring and energizing experience. The discussions were open, ambitious, and deeply focused on a fundamental question: how to build a future that is more sustainable, inclusive, and adaptable to global transformations.”

Sharbatly added that one of the most remarkable aspects of the program was the caliber and diversity of its participants and sectors, coupled with a shared conviction that leadership today is centered on responsibility, long-term thinking, and creating meaningful impact that extends beyond traditional business boundaries.

He further emphasized that the coming phase requires stronger international collaboration and the development of high-value partnerships driven by innovation and knowledge, contributing to sustainable development and creating new opportunities for economic growth.

Sharbatly also expressed his appreciation for the professional and personal relationships formed during the program, noting his aspiration to continue these dialogues and build further collaborations with members of the global Young Leaders network.

He concluded by affirming that the future belongs to those capable of building it through collaboration and collective action, underscoring the importance of uniting efforts to address global challenges and create new opportunities for progress and sustainable development.
