ABU DHABI AND LONDON– The National Basketball Association (NBA) and ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, today announced a series of interactive fan activities that will take place as part of the ADQ Community Carnival at Khalifa Park in Abu Dhabi from Thursday, January 25 to Sunday, January 28.
The ADQ Community Carnival is a three-day community event of family-friendly entertainment and multifaceted learning opportunities for youth. It provides valuable insights into ADQ’s dynamic clusters and their impact on daily life, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and advancement. Open to all community members, the carnival aims to offer opportunities for personal, social and educational development through active participation and engagement in various carnival activities.
The series of activities will be headlined by NBA 3X Abu Dhabi presented by ADQ, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament featuring twenty-four men’s and twelve women’s teams in the 18+ division, as well as an open division for players ages 18 and under. Participants will receive NBA 3X jerseys, and all winners and runners-up will receive championship trophies and other prizes. Entry is free, and registration is now open by visiting nbaevents.nba.com/3xabudhabi.
The four-day event will also feature a range of free interactive basketball activities open to all fans, including shooting competitions and skills challenges, a live DJ, as well as performances by a Dunk Squad and appearances by an NBA team mascot. Fans will also be able to take part in daily NBA Fit clinics promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
The fan activities at the ADQ Community Carnival build on the existing multiyear collaboration between the NBA and ADQ to engage fans and youth basketball players in Abu Dhabi. The agreement makes ADQ the Presenting Partner of The NBA Abu Dhabi Games, which earlier this year featured the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves playing two preseason games at Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. ADQ also hosts and support the NBA’s grassroots basketball programs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of the league’s existing collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
“We are thrilled to build on our relationship with ADQ, who share our commitment to youth development and fan engagement initiatives that bring fans closer to the NBA,” said NBA Europe and Middle East Vice President, Global Partnerships Dina Ahmad. “We’re looking forward to participating in ADQ’s Community Carnival by offering a range of activities where fans will be able to play the game and interact with the league, all while learning about the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.”
Anas Albarguthi, Chief Operating Officer at ADQ, commented: “Through our collaboration with the NBA, we have been working to encourage participation in the game and foster wellbeing. Featuring a dedicated NBA Fan Zone, basketball activities will be a main attraction at the upcoming ADQ Community Carnival. Visitors will have the opportunity to harness the energy of the game, fostering not just a love for the sport, but a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. We look forward to celebrating the passion for basketball, bringing together the community to experience teamwork, sportsmanship and the pursuit of a vibrant, healthy future.”
