Final preparations are nearly complete for the second edition of Challenge Sir Bani Yas, the region’s first long-distance triathlon. Athletes of all levels still have the opportunity to register and participate in both professional and community races, which will take place on January 31 and February 1, 2026. The event promises a unique experience on Sir Bani Yas Island, offering an enhanced format and a world-class atmosphere for competitors, families, and supporters alike.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organised by ADNEC Group in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Challenge Family, the event will once again feature long, middle, and Olympic-distance triathlons. As the first long-distance triathlon in the Middle East, the event offers a unique addition to the international triathlon calendar.
Additionally, community races will take place, with options designed to suit all ages and fitness levels, including cycling, running, and open water swimming competitions, inviting participants to experience endurance sports on the breathtaking Sir Bani Yas Island. As the UAE celebrates 2026 as the Year of the Family, these races are designed as a shared experience — where families can cheer, volunteer, or compete side by side.
This edition offers more than just a race, with visitors to Sir Bani Yas Island able to embark on guided safaris through the Arabian Wildlife Park, a vast reserve where over 17,000 animals, including Arabian oryx, gazelles, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas roam freely. These immersive wildlife drives offer a unique opportunity to observe rare and endangered species up close, all while learning about the island’s conservation efforts from expert guides.
Stay aboard the Celestyal Discovery, a modern cruise ship designed for comfort and adventure. With more than 650 cabins and space for more than 1,200 guests, guests can enjoy a range of amenities, including five restaurants, multiple swimming pools, and luxurious spa facilities. The ship also features a Kids Club, ensuring relaxation and fun for the whole family. The ship will depart Abu Dhabi on 30 January, sailing to Sir Bani Yas Island, before returning on 1 February.
