Oman Shell took centre stage as it concluded its participation in the third edition of the Oman Sustainability Week (OSW), hosted recently at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
Throughout the event, held from 28 April to 2 May, Oman Shell had an active presence through its participation in the ISRTC Conference, OSW Talks, OSW Expo, and the OSW Future Mobility expo. In addition, Oman Shell hosted two important celebrations: the groundbreaking ceremony of the first hydrogen station in Oman, as well as Shell Nawafidh third batch graduation.
Groundbreaking ceremony for Oman’s first green hydrogen station:
Paving the way for the future of sustainable mobility, Oman Shell hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Oman’s first green hydrogen station during the week, marking a significant stride towards a more sustainable mobility future in Oman.
The station, set to be completed before the end of the year and located near Muscat International Airport, will produce Oman’s first green hydrogen molecules and around 130 KGMs of hydrogen per day. This initiative was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the Ministry of Transport, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Nama Power & Water Procurement Company as well as the Civil Aviation Authority and Oman Airports Management Company.
Graduation of the Shell Nawafidh program’s third batch:
Besides showcasing its innovative sustainable initiatives at the Expo, Oman Shell celebrated the graduation of the third batch of Shell Nawafidh participants with an exclusive ceremony held during the Oman Sustainability Week. Furthermore, it highlighted the top five impactful projects developed by talented students from Omani schools nationwide under the Shell NXplorers program and the Green Schools initiative during the OSW Talks.
Oman Shell’s stand at the OSW Expo:
Visitors to Oman Shell’s stand at the Expo also had the opportunity to explore the company’s journey in Oman from the 1930s to the present and future. Landmark projects such as Green Energy Oman (GEO), where Shell is a lead developer, and Blue Horizons, a proposed blue hydrogen and ammonia project by Oman Shell for planned implementation at Duqm, were prominently featured. These milestone projects exemplify Oman Shell’s commitment to innovation and sustainable energy solutions.
Oman Shell’s speaker at the ISRTC conference:
During OSW, Shell’s Senior Carbon Pricing Policy Advisor, Dr. Malek Al-Chalabi, who leads Shell’s global efforts on carbon pricing policy across multiple trade associations, addressed the challenges confronting energy security and the transition to sustainable energy at the International Sustainability Resources and Technology Conference (ISRTC).
