SAMBAZON marks Açaí Bowl Day by celebrating the impact behind every bowl
From the Amazon to the UAE, the brand spotlights wellness, ethical sourcing and the growing appeal of authentic açaí
SAMBAZON is marking Açaí Bowl Day on April 6 by celebrating what sits behind the superfruit’s growing global appeal: nutrient-dense nutrition, authentic Amazonian sourcing, and a business model designed to support both people and planet.
Due to the current situation in the region, planned activations are currently on hold. SAMBAZON will be highlighting Açaí Bowl Day globally through a digital campaign across its social channels, bringing together its worldwide açaí community.
For SAMBAZON, Açaí Bowl Day is about more than a popular wellness ritual. It is a moment to spotlight the impact behind every bowl, from supporting Amazonian harvesting communities to helping safeguard rainforest ecosystems through a supply chain built around certified organic and fair trade practices.
Ryan Black, Co-founder & CEO, SAMBAZON, says: “Açaí Bowl Day is a great opportunity to celebrate everything that makes açaí so special. It is delicious, versatile and naturally nutritious, but it also tells a much bigger story about ethical sourcing, rainforest preservation and the communities at the heart of the Amazon. For us, every bowl should feel good in every sense – from taste and quality, right through to the impact it creates.”
SAMBAZON açaí is wild harvested by hand, and its model is designed to keep trees standing, preserve biodiversity and create long-term value for local communities.
Açaí continues to resonate with consumers because it combines taste, texture and nutritional appeal in one ingredient. The berries are naturally rich in antioxidants and omegas 3, 6 and 9, while unsweetened açaí packs are a source of fibre, with zero grams of sugar per serving. The berry’s rich purple colour, creamy consistency and distinctive cocoa-berry flavour have also helped make it a versatile option across breakfast, post-workout and snack occasions.
As consumer awareness grows, SAMBAZON is also encouraging people to look more closely at quality. Authentic açaí should have a deep purple colour, a naturally creamy texture and a flavour profile that is earthy, rich and slightly chocolatey, rather than overly sweet or artificial. Ingredient transparency matters too. Some açaí products on the market contain unnecessary fillers, flavourings or added sugars, which is why consumers are increasingly checking labels and looking for trusted certifications when choosing products.
For SAMBAZON, responsible sourcing is not a side initiative but a core part of the brand’s identity. The company publicly says it built its own vertically integrated supply chain to oversee the açaí journey from harvest through processing and distribution, while its Fair for Life certification is independently audited. On its website, SAMBAZON also says its fair trade and organic model has helped support harvester communities through training, community investment and other local initiatives.
Looking ahead, SAMBAZON sees 2026 as an important year for growth in the MENA region. The brand is focused on expanding its presence across retail, foodservice and wellness spaces, while continuing to develop new product formats and experiences suited to modern lifestyles.
Because açaí is a whole food, it can easily become part of an everyday routine. Whether enjoyed as a breakfast bowl, post-workout fuel or a healthier dessert option, it offers balanced energy and nutritional value in a format that feels both satisfying and versatile.
For people looking beyond taste alone, SAMBAZON also points to the wider impact of its sourcing model, which works with tens of thousands of Amazonian families through a Fair for Life certified supply chain. Fair Trade premiums are reinvested into communities, supporting initiatives such as education, healthcare access and infrastructure, while a percentage of sales is directed back into Fair Trade programmes.
In 2026, the brand also plans to build its presence in the region through more community-led initiatives, partnerships and participation in key events across MENA.
Globally, SAMBAZON products are now available on five continents and in more than 45 countries, reflecting the continued momentum behind açaí as both an everyday food and a lifestyle category.
And for health-conscious consumers wanting to mark the occasion at home, the classic açaí bowl remains one of the simplest ways to enjoy it. Here’s the recipe.

About SAMBAZON: Founded in 2000, SAMBAZON®, an acronym for Sustainable Management of the Brazilian Amazon, was the first company to introduce “certified açaí” to the world, supplying organic and fair trade certified açaí products such as smoothie packs, ready-to-eat açaí bowls, and much more from a proprietary supply chain, and pioneering transparency from the “palm of the tree to the palm of your hand.” SAMBAZON’s Fair Trade certification has helped to safeguard the Amazon Rainforest and its rich biodiversity, and has helped to positively impact thousands of local growers by donating over $1 million to build or renovate healthcare centers, community centers, and schools. www.sambazon.ae
