SHARJAH,January 2026: The second edition of the Sharjah Literature Festival continues to draw community members from across the UAE, connected by the threads of stories that unite them through knowledge and shared cultural memory. This scene vividly embodies this year’s festival theme, “A Community Woven by Tales,” which celebrates the power of literature to inspire and unify visions.

Amid an atmosphere vibrant with intellect, authenticity, and entertainment, the University City area in Sharjah has been transformed into an inspiring platform. It brings together Emirati writers, thinkers, creatives, and publishers in a single space for dialogue, creativity, and innovation through the festival’s rich programme. The event commenced on 5 January under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the support and directives of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association and Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority.

Jointly organised by the Emirates Publishers Association and the Sharjah Book Authority, the festival’s first three days offered a wealth of cultural, artistic, and entertainment experiences. These included the book fair, which runs throughout the event, showcasing masterpieces of Emirati literature, as well as engaging panel discussions on cultural, artistic, and social topics that enriched public awareness and fostered intellectual interaction.

The programme also featured poetry evenings, theatrical performances, and musical shows brought to life by creative Emirati artists and musicians. Additionally, various workshops were held for children and adults in painting, visual arts, photography, and Arabic calligraphy, alongside daily interactive storytelling sessions designed to inspire children and stimulate their imagination and love for books. The event further offered a unique shopping experience featuring innovative handmade products inspired by Emirati heritage.

The Sharjah Literature Festival continues its journey this year until 11 January 2026 — a place where tales are crafted, ideas are narrated, and bonds are strengthened. It promises visitors more sophisticated cultural dialogues and diverse experiences that reflect the richness of the UAE’s cultural and creative landscape.
