Sultan bin Tahnoon: Emirati Women Are Partners in Shaping the Future

Abu Dhabi, August 2026: H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of the “Frontline Heroes” Office, affirmed that Emirati Women’s Day, observed annually on 28 August, represents a cherished national occasion for every Emirati, celebrating the enduring contributions of the women of the UAE and providing an annual opportunity to recognize their valuable achievements and contributions to the nation’s development and progress.

Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon noted that the journey of Emirati women over the past decades, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, represents a global model for women’s empowerment and unlocking their creative potential. He affirmed that this continued support from the UAE’s wise leadership has enabled Emirati women to enter fields that would not have been accessible without a national vision that believed in their capabilities from the outset.

This year’s celebration takes on an added dimension, with activities extending for the first time over an entire month, from 28 August to 28 September 2026, under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better.” The extended celebration reflects a national commitment to ensuring that this recognition is not limited to a single day but instead creates a broader platform for meaningful recognition and action that reflects the scale of Emirati women’s contributions.

H.E. Sheikh Sultan highlighted that the efforts of Emirati women represent a first line of defense within society and are widely recognized and admired for their vital role in safeguarding the security, safety and health of the community. This role has been clearly demonstrated through the various challenges the UAE has faced over the years, with Emirati women repeatedly proving themselves to be indispensable partners in the nation’s sustainable development journey, from the front lines across various fields to positions of leadership and decision-making. He added that extending the celebration over an entire month provides the community with a broader opportunity to highlight the many inspiring stories of Emirati women who may not previously have received the recognition they deserve within the span of a single day.

H.E. concluded by commending the significant achievements and gains made by Emirati women, expressing his pride in the prominent positions Emirati women have attained in education, professional fields and innovation. He extended his highest congratulations to Emirati women on their special occasion, which this year is being celebrated over an entire month in recognition of their continued contributions and role in the nation’s development, contributions that remain a source of pride for all Emiratis.
