Back to school in 2025 isn’t what it used to be, and neither are the students. Raised on smartphones, memes, and TikTok trends, Gen Z steps into the classroom with a world of instant gratification and endless scrolling at their fingertips. For teachers, the challenge is how to capture the attention of students after a summer of viral videos and keep them hooked on learning from day one?
The answer may be simpler than expected. Teachers are finding new ways to connect through feedback, moving beyond simple letter grades to personalized messages, drawings, and meme stickers to better connect with students and enhance learning through speaking their language.
Mariela, a modern TikToker teacher, is always looking for new ways to involve her students and consistently shares her best practices on her TikTok account.

‘I found that featuring memes students already use in their everyday conversations is the perfect way to surprise them. They are not used to associating humor with learning, which is something I love,’ she says. ‘Transforming the grading process into something unusual, something unexpected, is crucial to keeping the learning flame alive,’ she adds.
‘Moreover, I am impressed by the large number of stickers in each package and the variety in designs, which is very convenient for me as I teach different groups,’ she claims regarding her purchase.
She has noticed the positive impact that changing the rules about grading has had in her classroom. ‘Using this meme sticker I found on the Temu platform, I build a stronger connection with my students, turning the learning experience into something fun and unexpected. My students feel understood and motivated, viewing the classroom as a space where they can truly be themselves,’ she concludes.
‘With the incredible impact funny stickers have had on my students, I now feel I have the key to transforming grading into something exciting, even for myself, as I enjoy selecting the perfect sticker for each student,’ she says.
Educational games as a learning tool:
