The WLP takes centre stage at a prominent Asian logistics exhibition and launches its mobile application in Thailand

  • The WLP participated in the VILOG 2023 first edition and signed six strategic partners.
  • The WLP launched its new mobile application in Thailand, signed over 70 new members, and participated in TILOG-LOGISTIX2023.

Vietnam & Thailand : The World Logistics Passport (WLP) recently signed framework agreements with 14 new partners from Vietnam’s public and private sectors, which marks a total of 31 partners in Vietnam. These agreements will promote the logistics business and benefit traders and freight forwarders in the region.

This announcement was part of WLP’s recent trip to Asia to debut at two major logistics exhibitions to showcase its promise of enhancing trade and reducing costs in the region. Established in Dubai, the WLP is a global initiative designed to address trade barriers and smoothen trade flow across a global network of international traders and freight forwarders.

The Asian roadshow started at the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2023 (VILOG2023) in Ho Chi Minh City, where the team provided a detailed overview of the loyalty programme.

His Excellency Dr Bader AlMatrooshi, the UAE Ambassador to Vietnam, said: “I am delighted to see the growing partnership between the Dubai-based World Logistics Passport and Vietnamese entities and companies. This partnership is building on the strong UAE logistics infrastructure and the diverse exportation capabilities of Vietnam. I am positive that trade exchanges will continue to rise, especially with such important incentives.”

The WLP team also participated in TILOG-LOGISTIX 2023 in Thailand – the most comprehensive exhibition on logistics service providers and intralogistics technologies and solutions for ASEAN.  This marks WLP’s first exhibition in the country.  After the exhibition, a delegation of Thai businessmen and exporters, led by The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government, hosted a gathering in Dubai. This event brought together 30 Thai traders and ten importers based in Dubai, specialising in agriculture, the food industry, and logistics services, for a networking dinner with the Thai business community. During this occasion, WLP seized the opportunity to engage with its members and present its programme, showcasing the collaboration between Thai and Dubai-based exporters and importers.

Mahmood Al Bastaki, General Manager, WLP, said: “These gatherings provide a platform for us to underscore the significance of the trade and logistics sectors in shaping the trade future. Our commitment to ‘Smart and Green Logistics for Sustainable Tomorrow’ aligns perfectly with our mission to drive positive change in the industry, and we are dedicated to seizing every opportunity to promote these values on the global stage.”

At this remarkable event, the WLP seized the opportunity to unveil its latest mobile application and welcomed over 70 new members. The app efficiently manages requests between members and partners, ensuring businesses’ smooth and rapid operation. Members can now enhance their WLP journey by leveraging tier upgrades, unlocking exclusive benefits accessible directly within the mobile application.  Additionally, the app provides access to a global network of benefit providers, offering exceptional opportunities for cost-saving benefits that can substantially impact the economics of global trade.

Abdulla AlMulla, Senior Manager – Technology – WLP, emphasised the essential role of technology in this, stating: “Technology serves as our guiding light in the expansive realm of global trade. The World Logistics Passport transcends the role of a mere tool; it is our steadfast compass, meticulously charting the course of supply chains. As we embark on our journey into the future, let us remember that technology is not merely a facilitator of trade but a force that extends our horizons and forges connections among people.”

About the WLP:

WLP is a global private sector-led initiative designed to smooth the flow of world trade. It operates as an incentive-based loyalty programme that rewards traders and freight forwarders for high levels of trade by unlocking market access to new and existing trading routes. Traders and freight forwarders get increased benefits the more they trade through WLP Hubs.

The benefits include cost and time savings and faster clearances. Unlocking these benefits allows traders, nations, and regions to access new markets, diversify trade in existing products and increase market shares in essential export products.

As demonstrated in fully operational hubs, traders and freight forwarders that are members of the WLP can expect an annual increase in trade on average of up to 5-10%. Free to join, the WLP is inclusive, covering the entire trade ecosystem from freight and logistics to trade finance.
