UAE Baseball Committee steps up efforts to expand sport’s reach across Emirates

The three-member Baseball Governing Committee of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is pressing ahead with plans to embed baseball deeper into the UAE sporting landscape. Chaired by Dr Tayyab Kamali and flanked by committee members Zayed Abbas and Mubashshir Usmani, the body is focusing on grassroots programmes, talent pathways and international partnerships to accelerate the sport’s growth.

Baseball was formally brought under the ECB umbrella in 2023, and since then the committee has laid the groundwork for youth academies, school initiatives and showcase tournaments. “The Emirates Cricket Board remains committed to the growth of baseball,” Dr Kamali said. “We are nurturing local talent, establishing academies and preparing to stage world-class events across the country. We have also opened talks with leading baseball organisations worldwide, and we’ll have several exciting announcements soon.”

The committee’s roadmap includes nationwide coaching clinics, facility upgrades and collaborations with MLB-affiliated entities to bring elite-level expertise to the Emirates, positioning the UAE as a regional hub for the sport.
