ADIPEC 2021: 32 French Suppliers of the Oil & Gas industry to join this major event

From November 15 to 18, 2021, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center

United Arab Emirates: 32 French companies from the Oil & Gas sector will be gathered in Abu Dhabi from 15 to 18 November for the first post-Covid ADIPEC, the most influential oil and gas industry event in the world. This year edition will benefit from the prestige of Expo 2020 Dubai, UAE, that draws the attention of individuals and business delegations, decision makers, & investors from around the world.

Operated by Business France, the French Pavilion at ADIPEC 2021 is organized in partnership with Trouvay & Cauvin and Valsem, and will highlight a French oil and gas sector, known worldwide for its high expertise and capacity to innovate, which has succeeded in maintaining a top position as a leading equipment and services exporter. This year, 7 new exhibitors will play a part on the dynamism of the French presence at the show: Acebi, Energy Consulting Services, Exa’Air, Sensotop, Tofer & Trapil

While France ranks 3rd in the world among global exporting industries, exporting companies also generate 70% of their turnover from export. From engineering to hydrocarbon exploration and production, via services, oil and gas equipment and new technologies, France also managed to build a sector of excellence throughout the whole value chain. Also recognised as a key partner in complex projects, the French expertise is highly sought-after thanks to a high technical know-how in deep and ultra-deep offshore projects.

Positioning of French solutions in the region of the highest standard

Major global leaders from France are already well established in the Middle East: Total Energies, one of ADNOC’s oldest partners, as well as Engie, Technip, Vallourec, the Eiffage group, CGG and Ponticelli, to name just a few. Total is also present since 1975 in Saudi Arabia, as a partner of Saudi Aramco in the joint-venture SATORP (Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical) since 2018.

The pandemic and the global energy crisis accelerated the government energy transition policies which are aimed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

In a nutshell, the Middle East is a strategic market for France, with a total of 20,000 French exporters; 1,100 French subsidiaries; €14.6 billion in goods exported in 2019, becoming the 10th largest supplier in this area.

The estimated value of ongoing projects in the United Arab Emirates is $53 billion or 20% of the total value of ongoing projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries: Ruwais refinery, TA’ZIZ industrial zones, investment in the development of deposits in Hail, Ghasha, Delma, Nasr and Shuwaihat.

These projects open the door to many opportunities for French companies throughout the region. France and the United Arab Emirates are expected to collaborate on hydrogen production.

Some French companies already established in the Middle East:

  • Trouvay & Cauvin Group is one of the leading stockists in the Middle East with 50 years of presence in the region and is at the head of three stocks/logistics platforms in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
  • Bolloré Logistics, which offers complex supply chain management solutions, occupies a strategic position in the Dubai airport free zone (DAFZA), and the Jebel Ali free zone (JAFZA). In March 2019, Bolloré Logistics opened two branches in Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi Airport Free Zone (ADAFZ) & the LLJ Business Centre in Al Etihad.
  • In 2015 and 2018, Total Energies renewed 40-year concession agreements with ADNOC for Onshore and Offshore fields.
  • Technip Energies will create a joint venture with the Emirati group National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), covering the energy transition in the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the Middle East and North Africa zone.
  •  Vallourec has signed a $900 million contract with ADNOC. This contract concerns the supply of OCTG tubes, over five years with a two-year extension clause.
  • The start-up Opsealog has been awarded a multi-year contract with the offshore fleet of ADNOC Logistics and Services, the maritime branch of ADNOC, to apply its performance optimisation services to the entire fleet.
