Ajman: Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) is organizing the first Aquathlon in the Emirate at Al Zorah on Friday, 18th December 2020. The race is being held in cooperation with the UAE Triathlon Association, along with the support of Al Zorah Development company, Ajman Police and the Municipality and Planning Department- Ajman, the General Directorate of Civil Defense Ajman, and Critical Infrastructure & Coastal Protection Authority.
Open for both professionals and amateurs, Aquathlon Ajman includes the following six categories: Junior Aquathlon- Emirati (200m Swim | 1.5Km Run), Super Sprint Aquathlon- Emirati (500m Swim | 2.5Km Run), Sprint Aquathlon- Emirati (1km Swim | 5Km Run), Junior Aquathlon- open category (200m Swim | 1.5Km Run), Super Sprint Aquathlon open category (500m Swim | 2.5Km Run), and Sprint Aquathlon- open category (1km Swim | 5Km Run).
The race is being hosted keeping every precautionary and safety measure in place including Coronavirus testing, temperature checks for all participants, wearing masks and gloves during the race, limiting the number of participants, and ensuring social distancing.
HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, said, “We at Ajman Tourism continue to organize diverse sporting events that provide a unique experience for residents as well as visitors. ‘Ajman Aquathlon’ comes as a part of Ajman Tourism’s series of races aimed at positioning the Emirate as a prominent destination for sports and entertainment tourism.”
HE Khalid Al Fahim, Chairman of the UAE Triathlon Association said, “The association is making all efforts in providing technical support to the triathlon’s organizers and is encouraging Emirati participation to boost the sporting scene in Ajman. We are always on the lookout for Emirati talents who we can train, and make them qualified to participate in international tournaments. We are keen on selecting the best players in the triathlon community, including the Al Hudayriat Triathlon.
