ALSHAYA ORGANISES BLOOD DRIVE ACROSS THE REGION TO CELEBRATE AND SUPPORT WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY

Kuwait: To support World Blood Donor Day on 14 June, employees from Alshaya Group, a leading international retailer, were pleased to take part in a blood donation drive organized by the company across the region. 

Over 120 employees from Kuwait took part in blood donation sessions at the Kuwait Central Blood Bank in Jabriya and at the Al-Adan Hospital on 29 May and 9 June 2021. Further blood donation sessions will take place in the United Arab Emirates on 17 June 2021 and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 21 June. 

Donated blood is used for a variety of critical purposes, including trauma and burns treatment, as well as for the treatment of cancer, sickle cell and other chronic diseases. 

Seneca Cottom, Alshaya Group’s Head of Sustainability said: “There is always a demand for blood to treat many different medical needs. Arranging for employees to donate blood is a great way for us to give back to the community, by supporting the healthcare and medical services in the countries where we operate in.  We were very proud to contribute to the important work of the blood banks in Kuwait, UAE and KSA, especially in the period around World Blood Donor Day.”
