Accolade from Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities confirms
Mubadala Health commitment to delivering world-class complex medical care within the UAE, eliminating the need to travel abroad

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Amana Healthcare has earned a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its long-term care services in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. This recognition makes it the Mubadala Health partner’s third service line – alongside post-acute rehabilitation and home healthcare – to receive independent verification of meeting the highest international standards.

The non-profit American accreditation body assessed the long-term care offered by Amana at its highly specialized medical and rehabilitation hospitals for adults and pediatrics in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Dr. Jason Gray, Amana Healthcare’s Senior Director of Clinical Operations, said: “We are delighted to have added long-term care to the list of our services that have CARF accreditation as this has been the recognized benchmark of quality health and human services for more than 50 years. This accreditation underscores Amana Healthcare’s status as a truly world-class provider of long-term care – a vital component of our developing healthcare continuum.”

He adds that Amana Healthcare was the first in the UAE to launch a dedicated pediatric long-term care facility with on-site pediatricians, intensive care specialists and a multidisciplinary therapy team to ensure the highest standards of care for children with complex medical needs.

Amana Healthcare also offers a wide range of services, including many not commonly found in the region, such as comprehensive post-covid rehabilitation, pediatric early intervention, specialized tissue viability and wound management, dementia and palliative care. It earned its first CARF accreditation in 2016, when it became the first CARF-accredited facility in the UAE and the only private rehabilitation hospital with CARF accreditation in the Middle East at that time.

Dr. Gray says the CARF certification is the result of hard work by a compassionate, motivated team dedicated to providing the best care the world can offer. He adds: “Amana places a strong emphasis on cultural values and the importance of family in optimizing recovery outcomes. This approach enables our patients to benefit from global standards of care in familiar surroundings with a local understanding of culture and knowledge.”

In addition to the breadth of its services, Amana is well-known for its responsiveness to patients’ needs. The organization was the first in the Middle East to develop an integrated continuum of care, a healthcare model where patients access varying levels of care, from inpatient, outpatient, to home and community, as their needs change on the path to recovery. To help ease the transition between services and provide an essential link between multiple healthcare professionals, Amana has a team of trained, multilingual clinical case managers who meet with patients and families to handle enquiries, medical assessments, transfers and paperwork to transition between facilities, home and repatriation, where applicable.
