Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is to showcase some of its advanced and digital-led projects during GITEX Technology Week 2021 at the Abu Dhabi Government Pavilion.

Under the theme “Government of the Future”, DMT will be a major contributor to the innovative digital technology platform that brings together 31 Abu Dhabi government and academic entities who are showcasing more than 100 innovative projects and initiatives to highlight the achievements of digital transformation in the emirate at the pavilion which also offers a unique virtual experience, giving users the opportunity to take virtual tours of the pavilion from anywhere in the world.

DMT and its affiliates will be showcasing  a range of cutting-edge digital programmes and projects that support the digital transformation of the Abu Dhabi government, with a focus on developing activities and services that contribute to improving people’s quality of life, support people’s capabilities and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s global position as one of the world’s best destinations to work, live and visit.

Visitors to GITEX Technology Week will have access to a series of video and interactive smart screens to learn and experience some of the innovative and pioneering services provided by DMT, which have been designed specifically to make the daily lives of Abu Dhabi residents easier and to empower businesses as part of the Department’s strategy to support sustainable economic growth.

DMT is currently working on the 100% digitalisation of its services and the adoption of the latest artificial intelligence technologies. The Department will present a summary of these during GITEX, including the “Bus on Demand” project, Shared Services in DMT, Affiliated Entities in the “Saeed” Platform, and the DMT’s integrated digital services on the “TAMM” Portal, as well as an overview of the Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit to be held on November 22nd and 23rd  this year, the region’s largest event in the field of smart city development.

The GITEX exhibition presents the perfect opportunity for attendees to exchange knowledge of the practical applications of the latest developments in the technology field, exploring the experiences of participants, and thus contributing to the promotion of Abu Dhabi Emirate as a global leader in digital transformation.

About the Department of Municipalities and Transport:

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) was established by Law No. 30 of 2019 and is the entity responsible for managing the urban planning and transport sectors, and three regional municipalities.

As the entity responsible for supporting the growth and urban development of Abu Dhabi Emirate, the DMT guides, regulates and monitors urban development activities. The expert authority improves municipal work to provide comprehensive services and creates higher living standards for residents through the supervision and management of the municipalities.

One of the DMT’s top priorities is to fulfil the vision of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, which draws on the vision of our UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
