Empower celebrates World Refrigeration Day 2021

Dubai, UAE: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) joins the celebration of the World Refrigeration Day which celebrates on 26 June every year. The Day aims to raise awareness and understanding among the general public, of the significant role that the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and technology play in the modern life and society.

On the World Refrigeration Day, Empower urged developers and builders to adopt the environmentally friendly District Cooling solutions that reduces carbon emissions and contribute to conserving the natural resources for the future generations to come. District Cooling systems has made revolutionary changes in the air conditioning industry locally and internationally as it reduces the usage of fossil fuel based energy. It uses up to 50% less electricity compare to the conventional air conditioners.

Justifying to this year’s title, “Cooling Champions: Cool Careers for a Better World”, Empower stated that promoting district cooling industry among the young generation and encouraging them to study this growing sector is part of company’s strategy. Empower pays special attention to conduct on-the-job professional training programs for UAE national students with a view to encouraging them to engage in the promising district cooling sector and to contribute to offering employment opportunities and informing them about key specialties in the district cooling industry.

“As an optimal technical solution for reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, district cooling systems have been proven rather effective in serving humanity at all levels”, Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said. “District cooling plays vital role in preserving the environment, protecting natural resources and facing climate change hazards”, he added. 

Bin Shafar called for promoting a culture of district cooling and increasing the area and scope of its application, as it has become essential for helping human societies enjoy modern life without wasting resources or exposing public health and the environment to the perils of greenhouse gases emissions.

“Dubai is on a leading position in this regard”, Bin Shafar highlighted. “The city tops the international list of major district cooling energy producers”.  In 2003, the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation – ‘Empower’, was established, and within a decade, it managed to become the world’s largest district cooling services provider. 

The company has gained worldwide recognition for its key role in shaping lifestyle in the environmentally friendly cities. Having adopted artificial intelligence in the operation and production processes, Empower has thrived at the international level with 50% better systems compared to other traditional cooling solutions.
