Doha, Qatar – August , 2026: The 2026/27 European club football season is under way on TOD by beIN, with new campaigns, major managerial returns and fresh storylines unfolding throughout August.
The week began on Wednesday with the UEFA Super Cup, where Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2–1 to retain the title for a second consecutive season. Attention now turns to the Trophée des Champions, LaLiga and the Turkish Süper Lig this weekend, before the Premier League and Ligue 1 begin their new campaigns from August 21.

Trophée des Champions | Sunday, August 16
Paris Saint-Germain face RC Lens at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in a meeting between France’s top two sides from last season. PSG are chasing a fifth consecutive Trophée des Champions, while Lens arrive after winning the Coupe de France for the first time in the club’s history.
LaLiga | From August 15

Ligue 1 | From August 21

Troyes are back in the top flight with Australian World Cup goalkeeper Patrick Beach, while Le Mans return for their first Ligue 1 campaign since 2009/10 after earning successive promotions.
What’s new this season?
The 2026/27 Laws of the Game include several measures intended to reduce delays and keep matches moving. Referees can introduce a visible five-second countdown for delayed throw-ins and goal kicks, while substituted players will generally have 10 seconds to leave the pitch. Players who receive treatment may also be required to remain off the field for one minute, while VAR reviews have been expanded to include red cards resulting from clearly incorrect second yellow cards.
