On the occasion of the UAE’s Union Pledge Day, H.E. Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, stated:
“Union Pledge Day” is observed annually on 18 July, marking yet another defining milestone in the history of the United Arab Emirates. It commemorates the historic meeting during which the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, together with their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates, signed the Union Document and the Constitution of the UAE, proclaimed the Union Statement, and announced the name of the State, thereby laying the firm foundations for the establishment of the Union, on 2 December 1971.”
His Excellency continued:
“On this auspicious occasion, we reflect on the landmark moments of the Union’s journey and draw inspiration from the lessons and values that laid the foundations of our nation’s progress. We also renew our pledge to keep the UAE flag flying high, preserve national unity, and continue working with a spirit of teamwork to advance the country’s journey of development and prosperity.”
His Excellency further stated:
“Union Pledge Day reinforces the values of unity and national cohesion, strengthens national identity, and reflects the pride we all take in the UAE’s remarkable achievements and ambitious vision for the future.
“It also provides a platform from which to foster a sense of belonging and responsibility among everyone living in the UAE by raising awareness of the historic milestones that led to the establishment of the Union. This is done by promoting core national values and principles, educating future generations about their nation’s history and the dedication, and acknowledging the sacrifices and vision of the Founding Fathers and their historic foresight, all of which transformed the UAE into a global model of development and leadership.”
