G20 Sherpas and Finance Deputies Discussing the Leaders’ Declaration

G20 Finance Ministers will meet one last time on November 20, 2020 prior to the Leaders’ Summit under the Saudi G20 Presidency

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: The G20 Sherpas and finance deputies met virtually today chaired by Fahad Al-Mubarak, the G20 Saudi Sherpa and Abdulaziz Alrasheed, the Assistant Minister of Finance. In addition, G20 Finance Ministers will meet on Friday November 20, 2020 to prepare for the upcoming Riyadh G20 Leaders’ Summit on November 21-22, 2020. 

This Finance Ministers’ meeting will be chaired by Mr. Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Saudi Minister of Finance, and will discuss the global economic outlook, its downside risks and possible policy responses to safeguard against these risks. The meeting will also focus on the way forward to continue supporting global economic recovery, mainly through the collective work to implement the G20 Action Plan – Supporting the Global Economy through the COVID-19 Pandemic.

About G20 Sherpas:

The G20 Sherpas have held 6 meetings as well, with the first two being held in Riyadh and Khobar before going virtual. During this joint meeting, the deputies and Sherpas discussed the Leaders’ Declaration that will be endorsed by G20 Leaders in their Summit.

Finance deputies have held 6 meetings during this year’s agenda. They met jointly with health deputies to discuss COVID-19 pandemic, with the remaining meetings with central bank deputies. The first two meetings were held physically in Riyadh, then the meetings went virtual in response to the unprecedented circumstances.
