GE Holds ‘EHS in Focus Workshop’ with Iraqi Ministry of Electricity

Baghdad, Iraq: GE Gas Power (NYSE: GE) hosted the EHS in Focus Workshop’ in Baghdad in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity (MOE). The aim of the forum was to further strengthen awareness on and exchange learnings around environment, health, and safety (EHS) systems and programs. More than 80 officials from the Iraqi MOE, including plant managers, operations managers, EHS managers, and maintenance managers from power plants across the country, as well as senior executives from the MOE’s headquarters in Baghdad, attended the event.

GE’s senior EHS leaders were present in person during the event, sharing best practices to manage and reduce risk, monitor and evaluate performance, and drive operational accountability. They also went over the EHS support available from GE to the MOE and explained specific new initiatives launched in Iraq at power plants where GE provides construction, operations, maintenance, repairs, and other services and initiatives, such as risk reduction projects, including lock out tag out (LOTO). LOTO is a safety procedure used to ensure that dangerous equipment is properly shut off and not able to be started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or repair works.
