‘Tolerance has been the hallmark of our journey thus far and will continue to be a guiding principle as we move forward with building a world-leading smart city’

H.E. Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director General of Smart Dubai,CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment

Tolerance is one of the founding principles of the United Arab Emirates, and a moral value deeply entrenched in our Emirati tradition and heritage. Since its inception, the UAE has opened its arms to expatriates from every corner of the globe; our customs and our laws guarantee everyone – from any nationality, race, religion, or background – a decent and comfortable life, free from discrimination of any kind. Tolerance has been the hallmark of our journey thus far and will continue to be a guiding principle for us as we move forward with building a world-leading smart city that attracts residents from all around the world.

The International Day for Tolerance is an annual occasion for us to reaffirm our commitment to this open, progressive, and above all humanitarian approach. It is an opportunity to take account of the benefits such policies – instituted by our Founding Fathers and spearheaded, to this day, by our forward-thinking leadership – have brought for our country and all citizens and expatriates residing in it.

‘The UAE shows the world the best of what tolerance and coexistenceamong people of various cultures and backgrounds can offer’

We congratulate the United Arab Emirates and every person living in this country – citizens and residents alike – on the International Day for Tolerance 2020. The UAE shows the world the best of what tolerance and coexistence among people of various cultures and backgrounds can offer. The Emirates is now home to people from 200 different nationalities and backgrounds, living together in one coherent community built on respect and kindness, and offering the world a shining example of human beings coming together and accepting one another.

Our moral principles of tolerance and coexistence were engrained in our community by our Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. And today, we reap the benefits of these principles, as the UAE is loved and respected by people all around the world, where the United Arab Emirates has become synonymous with tolerance, and where our country has become a destination for anyone in search of human acceptance and coexistence.
