Puts a spotlight on the innovative approach towards technology, products and machinery in dentistry with 20% representation at the ongoing UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition AEEDC Dubai

Dubai, UAE: The future of dentistry looks very different than the practice of today, as seen at the Italian Trade Agency pavilion at AEEDC Dubai 2021, which was officially opened this morning by His Excellency Nicola Lener, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE in the presence of Giuseppe Finocchiaro, Italian Consul-General in Dubai; Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner; Gianfranco Berrutti, Vice President of Italian Dental Industries Association (UNIDI) and President of European Dental Federation (FIDE) and Fabio Catellani, UNIDI foreign office representative.

Starting today until Thursday 1 July at the Dubai World Trade Centre, a total of 54 Italian companies are showcasing some of the latest innovations in the field of dentistry, including high-calibre equipment, solutions, and consumables that feature advanced technologies. Inside Hall 4, the Italian Trade Agency pavilion, supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), houses 35 SMEs that are associated with the Italian Dental Industry Association (UNIDI).

His Excellency Nicola Lener commented, “Despite the challenges faced last
year during the pandemic, the Italian dental industry continued to innovate and develop
new technologies, confirming its leadership in the UAE market. Indeed, with over 24 million
Euros worth of products supplied to the UAE in 2020, Italy was the number one supplier of
dental equipment with over one third of the market share (34 per cent).”

Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, said: “Like any other industry, technology is a core component and has transformed dentistry over the years. Italy has become a highly preferred country for medical and dental educational programs, proving Italian excellence in this sector. On the other hand, our strong trade relations with the UAE continue as we supply the market needs, to help build a modern infrastructure and broaden access to dental care, also in pandemic times, when safety precautions and costs put on the field a new challenge for bilateral win-win cooperation.”

He continues, “Italy remains to be the number one supplier of dental equipment to the UAE, increased 11 per cent exports of dental hygiene products worth over 7.5 million Euros in 2020, and exported another 7.5 million Euros worth of special furniture for medicine, surgery and dentistry.

“At AEEDC Dubai 2021, ITALY looks forward to presenting its excellence in dentistry with new breakthroughs and solutions that integrate workflow of dental treatments – in order to equip the UAE with latest technology and keep high quality standards in the dental sector,” said Scarpa.

Gianfranco Berrutti, Vice President of Italian Dental Industries Association (UNIDI) and President of European Dental Federation (FIDE), concluded, ‘’We are proud to start again from where we left off. Italy is a great country, one of the leading exporters in the dental field to the Gulf. We don’t have great expectations in terms of immediate return of the investment but we are sure that Dubai is the place to be today.’’
