Kuwait City: KidZania Kuwait, the exciting kid-size metropolis, and That Al Salasil, the leading book publishing and distributing chain in the Middle East, are going to work together to inspire children to love reading through a range of fun learning activities.
As part of the collaboration, That Al Salasil will sponsor the Creative Corner in KidZania. Here, kids will be encouraged to stimulate their creativity by making original art pieces inspired by the theme of the story which they have listened to. In this way, kids will enhance their listening, critical thinking and analysis skills, as well as their ability to focus and be imaginative.
Fernando Medroa, Vice President of Leisure and Entertainment at M.H. Alshaya Co., said: “Being an educational brand at heart means that everything we offer children should enhance their learning experience. Our collaboration with That Al Salasil, a regional leader in advocating literacy which represents a very important aspect of education, will help children better engage with books by introducing something fun that will stimulate their imagination and keep them excited.”
Marketing Manager at That Al Salasil, Heba Mansour, commented: “we are pleased with this new expansion by joining hands with KidZania, and we hope this new step would further help us in our aim to foster a generation that appreciates reading and seeks information.”
Each quarter, That Al Salasil will introduce a new fun story based on their latest in-store book collection, which will then inspire children to create uniquely crafted art pieces. Additionally, the Creative Corner will introduce activities based on the different programs taking place in KidZania at any given time, including Kids for a Greener World, Summer Camp and Winter Festival.
The Creative Corner in KidZania is open to children between the ages of 4-14.
Much more than a children’s museum or family entertainment center, KidZania takes interactive entertainment and learning to an entirely new level by combining role-playing with real life. KidZania creates a children-centric city experience designed to educate and inspire 4 to 14-year olds – from arriving at the airport, to visiting a city center to exploring the city streets. We replicate the real world in a safe and self-contained over 7,000 square meter children-sized city. As in the real world, children choose activities – such as being a police officer, doctor, journalist or a shopkeeper – and earn money which they can then spend or save. KidZania operates just like a real city complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy and recognizable destinations in the form of “establishments” sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands. The facilities are designed to educate through experience, fostering the development of life skills, but from a children perspective – it’s all about fun.
KidZania, Inc., headquartered in Mexico, is privately held. This award-winning concept is recognized globally for its unique blend of entertainment and education for children. The first KidZania opened in Mexico City in 1999. There are currently 20 KidZania attractions in total including Monterrey, Mexico; Tokyo, Japan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Koshien, Japan; Lisbon, Portugal; Dubai, UAE; Seoul, South Korea; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Cuicuilco, Mexico; Santiago, Chile; Bangkok, Thailand; Mumbai, India; Cairo, Egypt and Istanbul, Turkey. To date, more than 20 million kids and parents have visited the facilities globally. The trajectory continues with more facilities in development, including locations in Singapore, Russia and the United States.
KidZania Kuwait is a (7,000 square meter) facility, located in The Mall – The Avenues and is operated by M.H. Alshaya Co.
About That Al Salasil:
THAT AL SALASIL’s journey began in Kuwait back in 1972, when Abdulaziz Al-Mansour and his brother Abdullah started the business, and since then, it has been successfully operating in Kuwait, the GCC and MENA region.
They started out as book publishers and distributors and later on expanded their business to include tobacco, fashion and accessories, and retail. Year after year, the Mansour brothers’ commitment in selecting the most interesting and high quality content turned THAT AL SALASIL into one of the major publishers in the Middle East. This enabled them to position themselves with distinctive brand names and build a strategic presence throughout Kuwait’s commercial network.
Their strength stems from expanding their services in various ways such as opening many branches of bookstores at the major areas in Kuwait to be available to their customers.
