kidzaniaKuwait: KidZania Kuwait, the exciting kid-sized metropolis, has highlighted the role that its partners from Kuwait’s educational sector play in its success at its annual Educators Event at KidZania. The event paid tribute to three years of collaboration between KidZania and the Ministry of Education, the Department for Private Education, and educators across schools in the public and private sectors.

The event was attended by representatives from across the local educational sector in Kuwait, led by Mr. Abdulaziz Al Kandari, Head of Educational Affairs at the Department for Private Education in Kuwait.

The event featured a video showcasing children’s testimonials about KidZania, and how the city has helped them on their journey to their future dream jobs. Guests were also treated to a choreographed show by KidZania’s five RightZkeepers, highlighting the rights each one represents and how it helps kids get ready for a better world.

Fernando Medroa, Vice President of Leisure and Entertainment at M.H. Alshaya, said: “In a rapidly changing world that is dominated by technology we need to shift towards more innovative ways of education. This is why we join hands with Kuwait’s education community, so that we can all play a role in building the future generations of Kuwait’s teachers, doctors and engineers.”

“It’s a privilege to be part of the collaboration between parents, the school and the community, as we believe it is essential to any child’s healthy growth. We would like to thank our educational partners for giving us this great opportunity,” Medroa added.

Kim Dixon, Educational Psychologist from the Fawzia Sultan Rehabilitation Institute (FSRI), KidZania’s clinical partners, talked about the significance of play in children’s education: “Play is the way children explore their world, build skills, exercise their imagination and learn through experience. Play contains all developmental tendencies – and is a major source of development. Children are at their highest level of development when they are at play, as it affects the personality, character, and abilities of every child, and therefore has great influence on the type of adults they become.”

The event concluded with an award ceremony to recognize KidZania’s educational partners for their efforts in supporting its development for the past three years through school visits and working with KidZania on educational projects.

About KidZania:

Much more than a children’s museum or family entertainment center, KidZania takes interactive entertainment and learning to an entirely new level by combining role-playing with real life. KidZania creates a children-centric city experience designed to educate and inspire 4 to 14-year olds – from arriving at the airport, to visiting a city center to exploring the city streets. We replicate the real world in a safe and self-contained over 7,000 square meter children-sized city. As in the real world, children choose activities – such as being a police officer, doctor, journalist or a shopkeeper – and earn money which they can then spend or save. KidZania operates just like a real city complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy and recognizable destinations in the form of “establishments” sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands. The facilities are designed to educate through experience, fostering the development of life skills, but from a children perspective – it’s all about fun.

KidZania, Inc., headquartered in Mexico, is privately held. This award-winning concept is recognized globally for its unique blend of entertainment and education for children. The first KidZania opened in Mexico City in 1999. There are 21 locations in total including, Monterrey (Mexico); Tokyo, Jakarta, Koshien, Lisbon, Dubai, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Cuicuilco (Mexico), Santiago (Chile), Bangkok, Mumbai, Cairo and Istanbul. To date, more than 20 million kids and parents have visited the facilities globally. The trajectory continues with more facilities in development, including locations São Paulo, Moscow and the United States.
