United Arab Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah– Marjan, Ras Al Khaimah’s leading master developer of transformative mixed-use destinations, and its joint venture partner Wynn Resorts, Limited, a global leader in luxury hospitality and integrated resort development, have officially broken ground on Janu Al Marjan Island – the partners’ second joint venture on Al Marjan Island and one of the emirate’s most anticipated hospitality and branded residential developments.
Scheduled to open in 2029, Janu Al Marjan Island will be the first Janu destination in Ras Al Khaimah, further expanding Aman Group’s presence in the UAE and marking a significant new chapter in the evolution of Al Marjan Island as one of the region’s fastest-growing leisure and lifestyle destinations. First announced in November 2025, the development sits directly adjacent to Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first integrated gaming resort.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together senior representatives from Marjan, Wynn Resorts, Aman Group and key project stakeholders to mark the official commencement of construction.
Janu, meaning ‘soul’ in Sanskrit, will bring its philosophy of meaningful connection, wellbeing and vibrant social experiences to Ras Al Khaimah for the first time. Designed by internationally acclaimed SCDA Architects, the development will combine a luxury hotel, branded residences and wellness-led experiences within a vibrant waterfront destination on Al Marjan Island.
Arch. Abdulla Al Abdouli, Group Chief Executive Officer of Marjan, said: “Breaking ground on Janu Al Marjan Island marks an important milestone in our long-term vision for Al Marjan Island as a globally recognised waterfront destination. As we continue to attract the world’s leading hospitality brands and investment partners, we are creating a diverse portfolio that strengthens Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism economy, expands its international appeal and supports sustainable long-term growth. Janu’s approach to modern luxury aligns perfectly with that vision, and this groundbreaking opens a significant new chapter in the island’s journey on the global stage.”
Max Tappeiner, President, Wynn Al Marjan Island, said: “Janu is an exciting addition to Al Marjan Island and a natural complement to what we’re creating at Wynn Al Marjan Island. Its distinctive approach to hospitality brings something new to the destination. As neighboring developments, we expect a natural connection between our guests and residents that will create meaningful benefits for both properties.”
Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, added: “The groundbreaking of Janu Al Marjan Island marks a significant milestone as we bring the Janu vision to life in Ras Al Khaimah. As one of the Middle East’s most captivating emerging destinations, it is a natural home for the brand.
