NBF leads industry discussion on navigating geopolitical risk in energy trade finance

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – October 2026: National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (NBF) sponsored and participated in the 14th Energy Markets Forum, held on 6 and 7 October at DoubleTree by Hilton Fujairah City. The Forum brought together senior representatives from the energy, trading, shipping and finance sectors to exchange perspectives on the market dynamics shaping energy trade across the region and globally.

NBF’s participation reflects its longstanding role as a banking partner to the energy sector and its deep understanding of the financing needs of businesses operating across the energy and marine industries. Through corporate lending, structured trade finance, commodity finance and working-capital solutions, NBF supports clients in navigating evolving market conditions, maintaining trade flows and pursuing sustainable growth.

A key focus of NBF’s participation was the Industry Roundtable, “How Should Banks Price Geopolitical Risk in Energy Trade Finance?”, hosted by Daniel Garcia Iglesias, Senior Relationship Manager, Wholesale Banking – Corporate Banking at National Bank of Fujairah. Held on 7 October, the session explored how geopolitical developments, exposure to critical shipping chokepoints and disruption to trade routes are reshaping risk considerations across energy trade finance.

The discussion examined the impact of these dynamics on cargo cycles, insurance costs, vessel delays, inventory exposure and working-capital requirements, as well as the role banks can play in helping energy businesses manage periods of heightened uncertainty. The session also highlighted the importance of combining disciplined risk assessment with sector knowledge and an understanding of the practical realities of energy logistics.

Through its continued participation in the Energy Markets Forum, NBF reinforces its commitment to supporting the energy and marine sectors with specialist expertise and tailored financing solutions, while contributing to industry dialogue on the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of energy trade.
