Color Temp. Blend, Target Color Correction, and Chroma Suppression Functions Deliver Advanced Color Control Required in Production Sites

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Panasonic announced the development of three new color adjustment functions – Color Temp. Blend, Target Color Correction, and Chroma Suppression in the latest firmware update for its 4K studio cameras. Designed to provide greater precision and flexibility in color expression, the new functions address the evolving requirements of professional video production, particularly in environments where LED walls, complex stage lighting and highly saturated visual content are increasingly used across live events, broadcast studios and virtual productions.

The functions are scheduled to be launched via a firmware update for the 4K Studio Camera AK-UCX100 and the 4K Multi-Purpose Camera AK-UBX100 in November 2026.*The new capabilities are designed to help creators achieve their intended color expression with greater precision while supporting more efficient on-site color matching and production workflows.

As production environments become increasingly sophisticated, the use of LED walls alongside stage lighting can create challenges in reproducing natural and consistent colors. Different light sources may have different color temperatures, while highly saturated corporate logos, sponsor colors and stage effects displayed on LED walls can affect the appearance of camera footage. Panasonic’s new functions have been developed to give production teams greater control over these challenges while maintaining overall image quality.

Production environments increasingly combine LED walls with conventional stage lighting. When each light source has a different color temperature, the reproduction of people and other subjects can appear unnatural. Conventional white balance settings use a single reference color temperature, requiring users to choose whether the LED wall or stage lighting should be the primary reference.

Panasonic’s new Color Temp. Blend function retains the color temperature data acquired from both the LED wall and stage lighting as reference data and blends them to generate an optimal white balance for the shooting environment. This enables video expressions that accounts for differences in color temperature across multiple light sources, helping to create greater visual unity between real subjects and LED wall footage.

Target Color Correction:

Target Color Correction allows users to designate a specific color and adjust its hue and saturation individually. This enables pinpoint color correction of corporate brand colors, sponsor logos displayed on an LED wall or specific colors used in stage production, without affecting the video’s overall color reproduction.

The function can set up to three color tables simultaneously, allowing multiple important colors to be optimized individually. This can help improve the reproducibility of brand colors and achieve color expression that matches creative intent, supporting more efficient on-set color matching and higher-quality video production.

The new Chroma Suppression function maintains the overall color reproduction of the video while suppressing color shift and saturation in highly saturated areas, supporting high-quality and natural video expression in visually demanding production environments. The feature addresses challenges faced in live events and concert venues LED displays featuring vivid CG imagery are common. However, extremely saturated colors can cause unnatural color rendering or excessive color saturation in camera footage.

The new color adjustment functions will be exhibited at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam from September 11 to 14, 2026. Panasonic will demonstrate the capabilities for professional production environments involving LED walls, multiple light sources and highly saturated visual content.
