The LightHouse Arabia celebrates ten years of serving the community and raising awareness on mental health

Dubai, UAE: This October, The LightHouse Arabia, the leading mental health and wellness clinic in the UAE, celebrates its ten-year anniversary. This marks a decade of serving the community and providing high-quality outpatient services to children, adults, couples, and families dealing with a range of mental health and wellbeing challenges – from personal issues such as depression, anxiety, chronic stress, and addictions, to interpersonal issues such as conflict at work and marriage difficulties.

Founded by Dr. Saliha Afridi and co-founded by Dr. Tara Wyne in 2011, The LightHouse Arabia’s core mission was and continues to be to raise awareness on mental health and provide high-quality services in an accessible, professional, and compassionate manner. Today, a team of over 30  psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational, and speech and language therapists work together to provide integrated care for clients, with evidence-based and results-oriented treatments.

Keeping community at the heart, The LightHouse Arabia is committed to breaking the stigma around mental health and works to provide a wide range of seminars and workshops. The LightHouse Arabia is the only licensed provider of the accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training in the UAE which equips individuals with the skills to identify and assist someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Some examples of the upcoming classes and workshops that are offered on the October schedule are Meditation 101: Learn to Meditate, Teen Mental Health First Aid Support, Partners Loss Support Group.

With a vision of ‘mental health for everyone, everywhere”, Dr. Saliha Afridi, Clinical Psychologist, Founder and Managing Director of the LightHouse Arabia said: “We launched this clinic ten years ago as we saw a big need to talk about mental health, and today, while we are slowly breaking down the stigma around these topics, we still need to play our role of guiding, educating and providing support to those who are struggling.”

Throughout the pandemic, The LightHouse Arabia stayed highly attuned and responsive to the needs of individuals, organizations, and the community, and took quick and early action to move all its services online to ensure continuity of care and delivered over 600 hours of free-of-charge community support in the past year alone, covering support groups, community webinars, corporate workshops and educational seminars (e.g., Job Loss, Emotional Health During COVID-19, Heartbreak, Parenting during COVID-19, etc.).

With ample demand, The LightHouse Arabia will be expanding to a second location in the fall of this year, further cementing its reputation as a trusted partner on people’s journeys towards greater mental health and wellbeing, especially in times of greatest need.
