- Year-long programme links local deliveries with verified carbon removal, with UAE Mangrove Day marking its first major public activation
Dubai, UAE –July 2026: Quiqup, a UAE-based innovative e-commerce logistics provider, has launched its Eco-Friendly Deliveries initiative, a year-long programme designed to connect local last-mile deliveries with verified carbon removal, while supporting both regional climate projects and mangrove restoration efforts in the UAE.
The programme kicked off on 1 July 2026 and reflects Quiqup’s continued focus on building more sustainable logistics solutions across the UAE. As part of its first major public activation on UAE Mangrove Day, Quiqup announced its three founding partner brands — Baya, The Botanist and Clarins, as well as the early progress made through the initiative to date. Between Quiqup’s own commitment and the contributions of participating brands, a total of 11,324.88 kg CO₂e has been removed to date. Under the programme, Quiqup has also committed to removing a minimum of 50,000 kg CO₂e from the atmosphere in its first year, in addition to the carbon removal commitments made by participating brands.
Eco-Friendly Deliveries is designed to give brands a more practical and measurable way to connect everyday delivery activity with environmental action. Every local delivery is matched with verified carbon removal, with impact directed across both a regional climate portfolio and a local mangrove portfolio. For this activation, all carbon removal linked to UAE Mangrove Day is being directed to verified UAE mangrove projects. The initiative’s local mangrove component is aligned with the UAE’s wider ambition to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030, supporting broader national momentum around restoration and climate resilience.
Bassel El Koussa, CEO of Quiqup, said: “It’s always an amazing moment where your personal values and what’s good for business come together: this is one of them. Starting the eco-friendly deliveries initiative is just the beginning of our commitment to enabling brands to make planet-positive choices. Respect for our planet and all of its treasures are deeply important to us at Quiqup, and we are so proud to begin to weave that into our purpose and business. The consumer demand for environmentally conscious options is growing every year and today we are committing to put sustainability at the core of our innovation. We are proud to kick-off our initiative by celebrating UAE Mangrove Day and to work everyday with brands who share our commitment.”
Quiqup’s ability to introduce an initiative of this kind also reflects the strength of the UAE’s wider innovation ecosystem, which continues to support high-potential businesses as they scale and mature. Over the years, Quiqup has been supported through the Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund’s Guarantee Scheme, which has helped the company progress in its growth journey to a stage where it is now able to create wider value beyond its core commercial offering. In that sense, Eco-Friendly Deliveries is not only a Quiqup initiative, but also an example of how ecosystem support can enable promising businesses to evolve in ways that contribute more broadly to the UAE’s sustainability agenda.
The programme calculates the carbon footprint of each local delivery and reports it back to participating brands. Quiqup then arranges for an equivalent amount of carbon to be removed through verified programmes, with calculations verified by climate partner CarbonSifr. Through this model, the company aims to support the continued growth of e-commerce brands while helping make last-mile logistics more environmentally responsible over time.
As the programme develops over the coming year, Quiqup will continue expanding the initiative with additional brand participation and further activations designed to strengthen the link between commerce, innovation and climate action in the UAE.
