The authentic Portuguese café brings the flavours, traditions and café culture of Portugal to Dubai’s JLT, further strengthening UHM’s growing portfolio of distinctive dining concepts.

Dubai, UAE, August 2026: There is a particular pull to a Portuguese café, the hiss of an espresso machine pulling a bica, the scent of a pastel de nata still warm from the oven, and the unhurried rhythm of a coffee break that asks nothing more than to be enjoyed. That atmosphere now arrives in Dubai’s JLT district, where Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers is set to welcome Mimo Café, a Portuguese coffee concept built on a simple, unshakeable idea: coffee and pastry, done properly. Rooted in the everyday café culture of Portugal, where coffee marks the morning and pastry is part of daily life rather than occasion, Mimo brings a slice of that world to Dubai’s JLT district, offering guests a place to slow down, however briefly, within the rhythm of the day.

At the core of the concept is the pastel de nata, baked fresh throughout the day and always served warm, offered in both traditional and flavoured variations. The wider menu takes the same straightforward approach, drawing on other staples of Portuguese pastry making such as the Portugal rice cake, hazelnut and strawberry Lisbon rolls, and the almond croissant, alongside salads and warm sandwiches, all designed to complement an espresso-led beverage programme. Mimo works exclusively with Portugal’s Delta Coffee, using a medium to dark roast suited to espresso, long black and milk-based drinks, prepared on La Marzocco machines positioned on the front counter so the process stays visible to guests. Premium loose-leaf teas, fresh juices and simple mocktails complete the offer, available in two formats, a compact grab-and-go and the full café experience.

“Mimo Café brings something genuinely different to JLT, a slice of Portuguese café culture built on quality, simplicity and doing a small number of things properly,” said Dominic Arel, VP Operations Middle East, United Hospitality Management. “As we grow the brand across the region, every new opening stays true to that same idea, and this one is a natural fit for the community around Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers.”

Mimo is designed to adapt to different hotel environments while keeping its core identifiers consistent across locations, from tile work inspired by traditional Portuguese azulejos to its pastry presentation and floral touches. At Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers, the café will form part of the hotel’s lounge and café area in the lobby, giving guests a dedicated space built around this Portuguese coffee ritual.

Mimo Café is already an established presence across the Middle East and Portugal, and its arrival at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers marks the next step in that growth, bringing the same clarity, quality and quiet theatre that define the brand to a new community of guests.

Mimo Café will open at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers in August 2026.
