Dubai, UAE: The Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa invited 9 aspiring chefs to compete on 29th of May at its annual Biryani Muqabla competition. The biryani cooking sessions were held at the Hotel’s award-winning Mumtaz Mahal Indian Restaurant.
The Judges for this competition included, Ms. Hina Saleem from peppersblog, Ms. Anam Anas, and Ms. Navita Gupta, former top finalist from Master Chef India and digital creator.

Each one pleasantly surprised us with their biryani making abilities; the judges must have had a hard time deciding the winners! We are proud to continue our tradition of encouraging talent and offering a platform to aspiring chefs in the region. ”
This year the participants prepared an array of Biryanis, including Bombay Biryani, Zafrani Chicken Biryani, Mutton Dum Biryani and Thai Style Biryani. The winning Biryani was a Malay inspired Chicken Biryani by Ms. Rashmi Govindan; second place was taken by Laziz Biryani Dawat by Ms. Ishita K and the 3rd place was the innovative Theeki Meethi Biryani by Kavita Khaira.
