Leading Canadian University to welcome transfer students in Computer Sciences
Dubai, UAE: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) and Queen’s University in Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that opens a new pathway for computer science, cyber security, and software design students to transfer their studies from the UAE to Canada.
The agreement offers eligible students the opportunity to complete the final two years of their program at the Ontario-based campus, and to receive their Bachelor of Computing degree certification from Queen’s University Faculty of Arts and Science.
The MoU was formalized during a virtual ceremony between the two institutions, attended by senior faculty and management. Signing the agreement on behalf of CUD was Dr. Sherif Moussa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology, and Dr. Mohammed Djeddi, Vice President, Academic, and representing Queen’s University were Dr. Hossam Hassanein, Head of the School of Computing; Dr. Barbara Crow, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science; and Dr. Mark F. Green, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic).
The agreement builds on long-standing ties between CUD and Queen’s University to promote academic cooperation and student mobility. The new initiative has been developed to create transfer opportunities for CUD students in technology disciplines, specifically, the Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Science, Software Design and Cyber Security.
Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Moussa said, “This signing is not only an excellent example of the strength of cooperation between our universities, it is also the realization of the CUD motto, to provide a portal to Canadian education. Students who pursue this opportunity will gain that Canadian education, while also benefitting from a transnational learning experience, and graduating with a world-class degree in one of three disciplines that are among the most in-demand technology fields in the world today.”

The first transfer intake will commence on September 1, 2022 with up to 25 CUD students moving to Canada for the start of the 2022-2023 academic year.
