Dubai, United Arab Emirates: KIA Motors Corp., through its sole UAE distributor Al Majid Motors Co., is pleased to announce that it has already won five prestigious accolades at international automotive awards programmes this year. The awards include:

  • 3 ‘iF Design’ awards for the KIA Stinger, Stonic and Picanto
  • ‘Shift Award Vehicle of the Year’ for the KIA Stinger at the ‘Roadshow by CNET 2018’
  • ‘Best of the Year’ ’for the KIA Stinger at the ‘MotorWeek 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards’

2018 marks the second consecutive year that KIA has won three iF awards and the ninth consecutive year the company has received an iF award. The latest awards bring KIA’s total number of iF design prizes to 15. In this year’s edition of the awards programme, KIA’s vehicles faced off stiff competition from 6,400 submissions from 54 countries in recognition of their exceptional design quality.

In addition to its two prestigious CNET and MotorWeek awards, the Stinger has won ‘Car of the Year’ in Slovakia,Performance Car of the Year’ in the UK, and the ‘Trophée Argus 2018’ voted for by leading French media.

The vehicle has also been shortlisted in both the North American and European Car of the Year award programmes, as well as for the Czech ‘Car of the Year’ award. Just a few months after going on sale, the KIA Stinger has established itself as one of the most celebrated new KIA vehicles ever launched.

KIA’s European design studio in Frankfurt, overseen by Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer of KIA Motors, and Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at KIA Motors Europe, brought the Stinger to life by channelling the powerful, elegant spirit of historic grand tourers that transported their owners in style and at speed. At every stage of development, the KIA Stinger has been designed and engineered to be the perfect ‘gran turismo’ vehicle, featuring  a head-turning aesthetic; ample room for five occupants and their luggage; a stable, smooth ride; and nimble handling with engaging, rear-biased power delivery.

Also designed in Frankfurt, the Stonic — KIA’s debut compact crossover— offers a striking and bold exterior design, combined with an elevated seating position and practical SUV format. It is the most customisable KIA ever made, offering buyers a wide choice of two-tone paint combinations and interior colours.

The third-generation of the KIA Picanto, KIA’s smallest car, brings a youthful and energetic character to the A-segment. It boasts a distinctive new design and a high-quality, high-tech cabin, with huge potential for customisation. Despite its compact dimensions, the Picanto’s intelligent design makes it one of the most spacious cars in its class.
