In a region where more than 75% of the food that we buy and eat has been imported from 1000’s of miles away, is grown with pesticides and other chemicals and, is a resource burden on a broken planet — Krispr wanted to change that by moving our farms from far and away, to the cities where their produce is eaten — using less land, less water and no pesticides. Krispr’s indoor vertical farm cultivates nutritious, fresh, beyond organic produce — all year round. The hyperlocal farm to table produce can be delivered to customers within a few hours of harvest ensuring peak nutrition and optimal freshness. 

Krispr is tackling the GCC region’s food security challenges head-on by building a movement for better agriculture, helping to transform food production and reverse nutritional decline without damaging the planet.  

Using closed-loop water-saving nutrient systems and indoor environmental controls, Krispr’s farms can create the ideal conditions for plants to thrive, so they can grow within urban centers, even in harsh conditions. Here is a selection of their produce:

Baby Butterhead

Equal parts tender and crisp, sweet, and slightly bitter. Great to create a salad and equally delicious in a sandwich — delivering on taste as well as texture. An excellent source of vitamins C and K, calcium, and iron.

Baby Kale

A delicate yet crunchy flat Toscano variety that is packed full of vitamin A, C and K. Versatile enough to use in a salad, sautéed with a splash of oil, salt and garlic or baked in the oven for homemade kale chips.

Baby Batavia 

A leaf with a crisp sweetness. Its curled leaves are full of fresh flavour, minerals, and nutrients like the all-important vitamin K. Perfect as the base of a centerpiece salad and delicious paired with a light lemon dressing.

Baby Frisée

A member of the chicory family this feathery leaf has an earthy, mildly peppery flavor with a satisfying crunch. It is best used to add subtle taste, texture and colour to a speciality salad blend. Chefs love these frilly fronds. 

Basil 

An aromatic, sweet and slightly spicy Genovese variety of basil. It is entwined with Italian cuisine and culture and is most famously used to make the wonderful ‘Pesto alla Genovese’. It is also a perfect addition to homemade pizza.
