Distinguished ophthalmologists from around the world will convene virtually to discuss advancements in the field and upcoming industry breakthroughs of 2021.
Dubai, UAE: Moorfields Eye Hospitals UAE are excited to announce the 3rd edition of the ‘Moorfields UAE 2020 – A Year in Focus Conference’. The conference will take place virtually on the 8th and 9th of January at 4:30 PM, and will feature over 35 speakers, eight sessions, and 12 CME points.
During the conference, world renowned eye specialists will weigh in on recent innovations in ophthalmology, advise how best to tackle eye diseases and degenerative conditions in the future, and host panels on various eye conditions and procedures.
Day one of the conference will open with a discussion on paediatrics and strabismus, chaired by Dr. Syed Ali, chief of paediatric ophthalmology service for Moorfields UAE. Continuing the topic, speakers will focus on genomics of paediatric cataract, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, and pearls of paediatric retinal surgery.
The rest of the day will be filled with a series of topics around the cornea led by Dr. Miguel Morcillo, chief of cornea service for Moorfields UAE, Dry eye and ocular surface chaired by Dr. Osama Giledi, a highly experienced consultant ophthalmologist who specialises in cornea, anterior segment, cataract and refractive surgery. Other key subjects explored during the conference include new trends in intraocular lens (IOL) implants, which is chaired by Dr. Luisa Sastre, a specialist ophthalmologist in medical retina and cataract surgery and moderated by Dr. Miguel Morcillo.
The second day of the conference will open with a session on glaucoma, chaired by Dr. Salman Waqar, an experienced consultant ophthalmologist specialising in the treatment of adult glaucoma and cataracts and moderated by Dr. Gus Gazzard, Director of Glaucoma Service for Moorfields London.
The discussion will move on to a medical retina and uveitis led by Dr. Avi Gurbaxani, chief of retina service for Moorfields UAE, and the day will end with two sessions on vitreoretinal chaired by Dr. Igor Kozak, a renowned specialist in the whole range of vitreoretinal surgical procedures and Dr. Ammar Safar, Medical Director of Moorfields UAE.
Other topics of discussion will include, meibomian gland dysfunction, laser assisted DALK, managing immuno modulation in the COVID era, and digital virtual surgery.
